Professor Carol Swain to Leave Her Faculty Post at Vanderbilt University

Carol M. Swain, a professor of political science at Vanderbilt University and a professor at the Vanderbilt Law School, has announced that she will leave the university on August 15, 2017. Dr. Swain joined the faculty at Vanderbilt University in 1999.

Professor Swain has been a controversial figure on the Vanderbilt campus. In 2015, some Vanderbilt students mounted a petition to suspend her.

In a statement, Professor Swain said “I will miss the students and the rhythm of campus, but I will not miss what American universities have allowed themselves to become.”

Professor Swain is the author of several books including The New White Nationalism in America: Its Challenge to Integration (Cambridge University Press, 2002), which was nominated by a Pulitzer Prize. Other books include Abduction: How Liberalism Steals Our Children’s Hearts and Minds (Christian Faith Publishing, 2016) and Be the People: A Call to Reclaim America’s Faith and Promise (Thomas Nelson, 2011).

Professor Swain is a magna cum laude graduate of Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia, where she majored in criminal justice. She holds master’s degrees from Virginia Tech and Yale Law School. Dr. Swain earned a Ph.D. in political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

  1. “All in” for Ms. Swain’s book – “Abduction” – She hit the nail on the head. The tiny socialist movement in America that promotes snowflakes who know nothing but protest, are now our aging losers from the late 70’s and 80’s. They will die-off – as will this “movement” – exposed as the failed Marxists they are. Sorry. No such thing as a free lunch, so protest this.
