The Next Dean of the School of Music and Dance at the University of Oregon

Sabrina Madison-Cannon will be the next dean of the School of Music and Dance at the University of Oregon. She has been serving as a professor of dance and associate dean of academic and faculty affairs in the Conservatory of Music and Dance at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Earlier, she taught at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. She will begin her new role for the 2018-19 academic year.

In accepting her new post, Professor Madison-Cannon stated that “the opportunity to join the incredible faculty, staff and students in the University of Oregon’s School of Music and Dance was something I could not pass up. We share a strong belief in the value of the traditional canon and in creating a welcoming environment where new works are created and performed.”

Madison-Cannon earned a master of fine arts degree from the University of Iowa. She received her professional training as a scholarship student at the National Academy of Arts and the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center. Professor Madison-Cannon has been a soloist for the Philadelphia Dance Company.
