Four African Americans Who Are Taking on New Administrative Duties in Higher Education

Ja’Net Glover is the new senior director of the Career Resource Center at the University of Florida. She has been serving as interim director. Earlier, Glover was senior associate director for career services at the university.

Glover holds a bachelor’s degree in recreation, parks, and tourism and a master’s degree in management from the University of Florida.

Rahim Reed was appointed interim director of the new Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the University of California, Davis. Since 2001, Reed has served as associate executive vice chancellor for campus community relations.

Reed is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where he majored in psychology and Black studies. He holds a master of public administration degree and a master of social work degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He earned a juris doctorate at the Rutgers University School of Law.

Carlos Robinson was named director of admissions, recruitment, and outreach programs at Langston University in Oklahoma. He was the assistant director of recruitment for Oklahoma City Community College.

Robinson is a graduate of Oklahoma City University, where he majored in business administration. He earned an MBA at Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma.

Leon Jones is the new chief of the Oklahoma State University Police Department. He is the first African American to serve in this role.

Jones joined the Oklahoma State University Police Department in 1994. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in criminal justice from Kaplan University.
