Delaware State University Converts a Bus Into a Mobile Classroom

Delaware State University, the historically Black educational institution in Dover, has instituted a new Mobile Entrepreneurial Training Program that will use a bus to take business and agriculture-related education to rural areas of Lower Delaware. The university’s Delaware Center for Enterprise Development and the College of Agriculture and Related Sciences Cooperative Extension program are joining forces on the project.

A university bus was transformed into a mobile classroom that will be driven to rural areas in the state. The bus is equipped with computers, Wi-Fi capability, desktops, and conference areas. Workshops on business plan development, marketing, farming, and financing will be conducted in the mobile classroom. The bus has been converted to operate on locally produced bio-diesel fuel.

The project is being supported by grants from the Small Business Administration and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
