Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina Receives Donation of Religious Books

Shaw University has received a donation of 500 books from the late Reverend Milton P. Snyder’s personal library. The gift will enhance the university’s collection of diverse religious publications. The new books will be housed in the school’s main library, the James E. Cheek Learning and Resource Center.

Professor of religion and director of women’s studies, Cheryl Kirk-Duggan stated that “receiving a volume like this, helps to facilitate learning, allows students to serve God and their communities, and helps students develop the capacity for analysis, critical thinking, and writing.”

Dr. Kirk-Duggan holds a bachelor’s degree in voice and piano, a master of music degree in voice, a master of divinity degree, and a Ph.D. in religion. She is the author of over 20 books including Wake Up: Hip Hop, Christianity, and the Black Church (Abingdon Press, 2011).
