ABOUT THE CITIES TEAM
BerlinRosen’s Cities practice comprises over 70 communications professionals who bring a unique campaign-style approach to strategic communications. We work with visionary clients in New York, Los Angeles and other major cities across the country on issues ranging from urban planning, affordable housing, issue advocacy, social impact and progressive policy, public affairs, healthcare, higher education, real estate, travel, lifestyle, arts & culture and more. The Higher Education team works with organizations and institutions at the forefront of national conversations around the evolution of higher education, research, job preparation and universities’ relationship to their missions and their communities. The right candidate will be able to demonstrate an ability to effectively communicate around these vital social issues.

ABOUT THIS ROLE
BerlinRosen is seeking a Senior Account Executive to join our team. You will lead daily client relations, plan and execute day-to-day project deliverables, support and lead junior staff and conceptualize strategies, pitches and media placements. This role not only leads the day-to-day, but sees around the corners to anticipate clients’ needs and quickly assess the optimal team approach to meet them. Working closely with client leads and internal staff, this position will manage up and down, delegating to peers and junior staff and developing and advancing strategy with senior leaders. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who carries a passion for higher education and the role it plays in society, in elevating the stories of colleges, universities and other corollary organizations and in leading on client work to achieve and advance their goals and initiatives.

Role location: This role is based in our New York, N.Y. office on a hybrid basis. The Cities team is in-office 2-3 days per week.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
As a Senior Account Executive on the Cities and Higher Education team you will…

  • Develop and implement strategy and campaign planning for multiple high-profile client accounts
  • Manage clients daily
  • Engage with key reporters
  • Write and edit persuasive external and internal documents such as press releases, op-eds, fact sheets, talking points, editorial board memos and communications strategies
  • Participate in business development opportunities
  • Manage internal client teams and mentor junior staff

Essential skills:

  • A minimum of 3-4 years of experience in communications: in-house for companies, nonprofits or higher education institutions, media or journalism; PR agency experience preferred
  • Familiarity and interest in the higher education landscape
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments at once, work quickly and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated relationships with reporters and strong news sense
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with varying levels of staff, clients, the media, etc.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work with a team to meet group objectives
  • Proficient in Google and Microsoft software suites

WORKING AT BERLINROSEN
Compensation philosophy: BerlinRosen offers competitive industry rate salary bands with the goal of retaining and growing talented individuals. We regularly review and adjust our compensation structure as needed to ensure equity across teams and levels.

Salary range (commensurate with experience and skills): $80,000-$95,000
