Louisiana State University (LSU) seeks a dynamic and collaborative leader to serve as the next Dean of the E.J. Ourso College of Business.

Since its establishment in 1928, the E. J. Ourso College of Business has served as Louisiana’s flagship business college, playing a pivotal role in driving economic growth and enhancing the well-being of its citizens. The E. J. Ourso College is committed to preparing future business leaders who drive innovation and transformation in a rapidly changing global economy. The Ourso College is structured into seven departments, six centers and institutes, and various support and auxiliary units, all dedicated to fostering a culture of learning and discovery. Each unit contributes to an intellectually diverse environment that prepares students for lifelong success while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and performance.

The Dean of the E. J. Ourso College of Business reports directly to the Executive Vice President and Provost, serving as the chief executive officer of the college in charge of academic, administrative, and external initiatives. The next Dean of the E. J. Ourso College of Business will be a visionary who is expected to oversee the growth of the college, including providing a vision for that growth and developing a strategy, in collaboration with the President and Provost, to gather the necessary resources to accomplish that growth. The Dean provides oversight for all aspects of academic and administrative life within the college, including vision setting, strategic planning, fiscal management, faculty and staff hiring and development, academic programs, research enterprises, and undergraduate and graduate student recruitment and enrollment. The Dean will formulate and administer policies for the college, either on their own initiative or as directed by the appropriate authority, with due consideration for the prerogatives of the faculty with regard to academic and educational policy. The Dean also has primary responsibilities within the college for external initiatives that include outreach to business, state, and federal partners. As part of this external role, the Dean will lead the college’s fundraising efforts, including the crafting and execution of big, bold ideas.

The next Dean must have a successful record of academic leadership and the ability to oversee and drive to national prominence a large and complex college situated within an internationally ranked flagship research institution. This individual must have a terminal degree and an academic record suitable for appointment at the rank of full professor in one of the college’s departments.
