Detailed Job Description
The School of Interactive Games and Media (IGM) in the Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences at RIT is growing significantly, and applications are invited for a tenure-track assistant professor, beginning August 2025, with research in areas related to game design and development, with particular interest in candidates who incorporate AI technologies or methods at the intersection of digital twins, interactive simulation, modeling, and computational media. Successful applicants are expected to contribute to the scholarship of the school and college through externally funded research and teaching and mentoring of BS, MS, and PhD students.

IGM attracts excellent students, and the school is home to top-ranked programs, including a Game Design and Development BS program and a Game Design and Development MS. IGM faculty participate in a college-wide PhD Program in Computing and Information Science. Successful applicants will contribute to IGM and the college via research, teaching, mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students, and service to the department, university, and field. We seek strong, creative researchers with high technical/computational skills in the context of media technologies, design, and the computational arts whose work is disseminated via a wide array of platforms and venues. The candidates should demonstrate the potential for scholarly, cultural, technical, and pedagogical innovation. The ideal candidate will engage in cross-disciplinary work across IGM, the college, and the university.

RIT is committed to being a student-centered research university. As part of that commitment, assistant professors will be offered a low teaching load, a mid-tenure review in the third year, with tenure review during year six, after which the teaching load will be adjusted according to the intensity of the research load. RIT is also positioned to provide excellent competitive startup funding for PhD students, equipment, and travel in support of building an outstanding research program. The university provides support for gaining external funding, including several internal seed funding opportunities.

We are seeking an individual who has the ability and interest in contributing to a community committed to student centeredness; professional development and scholarship; integrity and ethics; respect, diversity and pluralism; innovation and flexibility; and teamwork and collaboration.
