Instructor of Voice

The College of Communication, Fine Arts and Media at the University of Nebraska Omaha invites applications for a full-time Instructor of Voice to join the School of Music, an established and comprehensive college music program of undergraduate and graduate students at a metropolitan university. This position will start on August 18, 2025.

Primary teaching responsibilities include applied voice with additional teaching assignments ni voice-related courses. The ability to recruit diverse students is expected for the growth and sustainability of the program. We seek candidates who have demonstrated the potential to contribute effectively to a faculty team, and are dedicated to a supportive and inclusive learning environment for an increasing student population.

The selected person will teach applied voice, with an ability to teach a diverse range of vocal styles, including commercial music; teach voice-related courses (undergraduate and graduate) which could include Diction, Vocal Pedagogy, Voice Literature, and Opera Workshop; and provide service to the School, College, and University. Additional expectations include the willingness to contribute to al aspects of department life including active involvement in the recruitment and retention of students; strong communication and organizational skills; and a commitment to community.

This position requires a Master of Music degree, college-level teaching experience and evidence of success as a performing artist. Preferred qualifications include professional performance experience, experience recruiting students at the university level and a DMA in Vocal Performance. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The School of Music, one of three academic units within the College of Communication, Fine Arts, and Media, is located in its own performing arts complex. With a faculty of 45, the Department enrolls approximately 220 students and offers the Bachelor of Music degree with concentrations in Music Education and Performance, a Bachelor of Arts degree with concentrations in Music Studies, Music Technology, Jazz, and Music Industry, and the Master of Music degree with concentrations ni Conducting, Music Education, and Performance. The School of Music is a fully accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM).
