The University of Oregon School of Law is a dynamic ABA-accredited law school and the only public law school in Oregon. Degrees offered include the Juris Doctor (JD) and Master of Laws (LLM). Position Summary

The Director of Bar Preparation and Licensure is responsible for preparing Oregon Law students to pass the bar exam and/or earn a license through an alternative pathway. Applicants should articulate a clear vision for the development and implementation of a multi-year bar-preparation curriculum. The Director must stay abreast of developments in national and local bar-related testing; develop and maintain substantial knowledge about academic support and bar preparation programs; possess the requisite skillset and knowledge to manage third-party providers; and consult on the hiring of additional personnel to provide curricular and skills-based support. The Director will also advise the faculty and administration on bar-related matters, maintain data, and prepare periodic reports for administrators and the Dean as needed.

The position requires a passion for working with and mentoring students, excellent communication and leadership skills, organizational prowess, initiative, and self-motivation. Considerable judgment and tact are required in handling many diverse students, donors, alumni, distinguished guests, and faculty members to coordinate the smooth execution of the program’s mission and goals. This position reports to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.

Minimum Requirements

• JD from an ABA-accredited law school with a record of academic excellence.
• Must have passed the bar exam in at least one jurisdiction.

• Proven or potential for teaching success.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior teaching experience or experience working with graduate students, especially experience working with students on skills and/or bar preparation.
• A license to practice law that is either active or eligible to become immediately active.
