Job Description
Job Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for the preparation of school psychologists-in-training enrolled in the Education Specialist (EdS) School Psychology program at the graduate level. Specific duties will include instructing assigned courses; grading all quizzes, tests, and written assignments; Assigning final grades and delivering grades and grade justification sheets; Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours to meet with students; Maintaining a safe and effective classroom environment; Advising students and updating program paradigm; Updating courses (i.e., student learning outcomes, standards, assessment of learning, etc.) to remain current and relevant to the field; Coordinating practicum experiences for program students; Engaging in program accreditation processes; Participating in department, division, and general faculty meetings; and completing other related duties and responsibilities as assigned necessary to support the unit and institution.
Residency Expectations: Relocation to the USVI, St. Croix/Albert A. Sheen campus; In-person and virtual office hours.
Required Qualifications
Education Specialist (EdS), PhD, or PsyD in School Psychology; PhD in related field A minimum of three years of experience as a school psychologist in a school system; Experience with program/curriculum development; Active School Psychology license (NCSP); Membership in the National Association of School Psychology (NASP) Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; One-two years teaching experience in a post-secondary institution; Proven teaching skills with the ability to convey basic concepts and theories in a practical and comprehensible way; Ability to recognize and to respond to students from culturally diverse backgrounds as well as the willingness to make students active partners in the teaching/learning process; Computer literacy and experience using computers in classroom with a willingness to apply technology and innovative approaches to the teaching of specific discipline; Knowledge and experience with learning management systems; Reliable, responsive, and consistent to students, administration, and colleagues; Meets deadlines **All degrees must be conferred from a regionally accredited institution. Copies of required certificates and licenses and unofficial transcripts for all graduate degrees with the institution and conferred degree and date must be attached. Official transcripts will be required following an offer for hire.
Preferred Qualifications
PhD or PsyD in School Psychology Demonstrated understanding of and work in the areas of social-emotional learning (SEL), social justice in education, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), strong research agenda related to field; experience in successful grant writing and management or experience related to seeking external funding. Additional preferred qualifications include mastery of technology skills related to instruction, knowledge of learning management systems (i.e., Brightspace), and experience with teaching in traditional (in-person) and non-traditional formats and settings such as off-campus online, and through videoconferencing technology (e.g., Zoom, Teams).
