Paul B. Tchounwou was appointed the new dean of the School of Computer, Mathematical and Natural Sciences at Morgan State University in Baltimore, effective January 1, and Aisha Morris Moultry has been named interim dean of the recently-established College of Transdisciplinary Studies at Texas Southern University in Houston.
Rosana Reyes Will Be the Next President of Lamar Community College in Colorado
Dr. Reyes currently serves as vice president for enrollment management and student affairs at Luzerne County Community College in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania. Earlier, Dr. Reyes served as associate vice president of the Newburgh campus of the State University of New York. She will take on her new duties at Lamar Community College in March.
Charles Robinson Appointed Chancellor of the University of Arkansas Fayetteville
Before being named interim chancellor in July 2021, Dr. Robinson was provost and executive vice chancellor for academic and student affairs. He was named provost in 2020 and has served as vice chancellor of student affairs since 2015. Dr. Robinson’s time at the University of Arkansas spans more than 20 years, beginning as an assistant professor of history.
Allyson Watson to Serve as Provost at Florida A&M University
Dr. Watson was named dean of the College of Education at Florida A&M University in 2019. Before coming to Florida A&M, she was dean of the College of Education at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg. Earlier, Dr. Watson spent nearly 14 years on the faculty at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
Emmett Griswold Is the New President of Albany Technical College in Georgia
In 2018, Dr. Griswold was appointed vice president for academic affairs at Albany Technical College. Earlier, he was dean of academic affairs for the construction, manufacturing, and transportation division at the college. Dr. Griswald began his career at Albany Technical College in 2004 as an instructor in criminal justice.

Barbara J. Johnson is the new executive vice president and provost at Talladega College in Alabama. Nicola Blake was appointed interim provost at Guttman Community College in New York City and Yolanda W. Page was appointed provost and vice president for academic affairs at Savannah State University in Georgia.

Chio Sheppard has been appointed dean of students at Prairie View A&M University in Texas and Shuneize Slater was named dean of the School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. Jerri Haynes is dean of the College of Education and Human Development at Jackson State University in Mississippi and Janekia Mitchell is the new dean of student services at Gadsden State Community College in Alabama.

Keith M. Howard has been named the next dean of the College of Agriculture, Family Sciences, and Technology at Fayetteville State University in North Carolina, and Dorothy E. Mosby has accepted an appointment as dean of the faculty and vice president for academic affairs at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York.

The American Museum of Natural History in New York Names its First Black President
The American Museum of Natural History was founded in 1869. In 2006, the museum established the Richard Gilder Graduate School which includes a Ph.D. granting program in comparative biology within the museum. It also offers a master's degree in teaching program. Sean Decatur, president of Kenyon College in Ohio, will begin leading the museum in April.
John King Appointed the Fifteenth Chancellor of the State University of New York
A former secretary of the U.S. Department of Education during the Obama Administration, John King has been serving since 2017 as the president of The Education Trust, a nonprofit organization that promotes high academic achievement for all students in early childhood, K-12 education, and higher education.

When she takes office on July 1, Claudine Gay will be the first African American to lead the university since its founding nearly 400 years ago. Since 2018, Dr. Gay has served as the Edgerley Family Dean of Harvard’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences. She first joined the Harvard faculty in 2006.
Oluwaranti Akiyode Named Dean of the Howard University College of Pharmacy
Dr. Akiyode has been serving as the interim dean of the College of Pharmacy since July 2022. She has taught at Howard University for 21 years and is a full professor in the department of clinical and administrative pharmacy sciences.
T. Ramon Stuart to Lead the West Virginia University Institute of Technology
Dr. Stuart most recently served as the president of Clayton State University in Morrow, Georgia. Dr. Darbeau was vice president for faculty affairs and academic operations at Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania, the integrated institution of Bloomsburg, Lock Haven, and Mansfield universities that was established in July 2022. Earlier, he served as interim dean of the College of Health Sciences at the University of Arkansas—Fort Smith.

The good news is that three Black head coaches have been hired by FBS schools. The bad news is that the number of Black head coaches is actually one less than was the case in 2022. Thus, Blacks are 10.5 percent of all head coaches at FBS schools.
Clarence Armbrister to Step Down in June From Presidency of Johnson C. Smith University
Clarence Armbrister became the fourteenth president of the historically Black university on January 1, 2018. He had been president of Girard College, an independent college preparatory school in Philadelphia. Previously, he was senior vice president and chief of staff at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and executive vice president and chief operating officer at Temple University in Philadelphia.
Calvin McFadden Is the New President of Arkansas Baptist College in Little Rock
Since 2020, Dr. McFadden has been a church pastor in Houston. Earlier he served in dean positions at Bristol Community College in Fall River, Massachusetts, Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, and Norwalk Community College in Connecticut.
Martha Hurley Named Dean at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio
Dr. Hurley has been serving as chair and professor in the criminal justice and security studies department at the University of Dayton. Her research focuses on criminal justice policy analysis, restorative justice, corrections, and community-police relationship building.

Elwood L. Robinson, chancellor of Winston-Salem State University, announced that he will step down from his post on June 30. The university wasted no time and immediately appointed Anthony Graham as interim chancellor, effective July 1. Since July 2018, he has been provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at the university.

Dr. Elliott had been serving as vice president of instruction and student support services at Robeson Community College in Lumberton, North Carolina. Previously, she was dean of the Graduate College at Hampton University in Virginia.

Ingrid Thompson-Sellers Appointed President of Atlanta Metropolitan State College in Georgia
In 2017, Dr. Thompson-Sellers was appointed president of South Georgia State College in Douglas. Previously, she was a professor of business information systems at Georgia State University in Atlanta and had served as senior associate dean at the university. Earlier she taught at Georgia Perimeter College in Decatur and at what is now Iona University in New Rochelle, New York.
