After receiving their associate's degree from an institution within the California Community Colleges system, students can transfer to Coppin State University through the Expand Eagle Nation program, allowing them to pay in-state tuition while pursuing a bachelor's degree.
Since 2013, the share of Black faculty and staff at the University of California and California State University systems has slightly decreased, while their representation at California Community Colleges has experienced a small increase.
California Community Colleges have agreements with a large number of HBCUs to ease transfer from two-year associate degree programs in California to four-year bachelor's degree programs at Black colleges and universities. Southern University and Shaw University are the newest partners.
