In Memoriam: Orlando L. Taylor, 1936-2024
Dr. Orlando Taylor of Fielding University passed away on January 16. He held numerous administrative leadership roles in higher education throughout his life. He dedicated his research to speech and language disorders, as well as advancing leadership at HBCUs, earning him seven doctoral degrees over the course of his career.

Crasha Townsend has been promoted to assistant provost for diversity and inclusion at Virginia Tech. Sean Edmund Rogers was appointed interim vice president of community, equity, and diversity at the University of Rhode Island and Dionne Jackson is the inaugural vice president for institutional equity at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana.

Liberal Arts Colleges Form an Alliance to Address Racial Justice Issues
The presidents of six liberal arts colleges are leading a new consortium called the Liberal Arts Colleges Racial Equity Leadership Alliance. The presidents of 45 other institutions have joined the alliance. They will collaborate with the Center for the Study of Race and Equity in Education at the University of Southern California.
Lori White Will Be the First African American President of DePauw University in Indiana
Dr. White has been serving as vice chancellor for student affairs at Washington University in St. Louis. Earlier, she worked as vice president for student affairs and clinical professor of education at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Dr. White will become president of DePauw University on July 1.
A Quartet of African Americans Appointed to Positions as Deans
LaTonya Branham has been named dean of academic services at DePauw University and Suzanne Barbour is the new dean of the Graduate School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Orlando F. McMeans is a new agricultural dean at Southern University in Louisiana and Nicholas J. Hill is dean of the business school at Claflin University.
A Series of Racial Incidents at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana
A racist threat was found in a restroom on campus. A student dressed in blackface and wearing an offensive sign was seen at a local bar, and a racial slur was spelled out in stones at the DePauw Nature Park.
Race-Related Vandalism on the Campus of DePauw University in Indiana
The nameplates on the dormitory doors of African American students at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, were ripped off in acts of vandalism. One Black student had a racist inscription written on the message board on her dormitory room.

Stanley Warren, a retired professor of education at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, and Shaun R. Harper of the University of Pennsylvania, received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the School of Education at Indiana University.
