University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Names Its Next Chancellor

Dr. Thomas Gibson has been serving since 2016 as vice president for student affairs and vice provost at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Previously, he was associate vice president of student affairs at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. Dr. Gibson will take on new duties in January.

In Memoriam: David G. Carter, 1942-2018

David G. Carter was the former chancellor of the Connecticut State University System and former president of Eastern Connecticut State University. He was the first African American to serve as president of a four-year institution of higher education in Connecticut.

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie Wins National Book Critics Circle Award

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is a summa cum laude graduate of Eastern Connecticut State University and holds master's degrees from Johns Hopkins University and Yale University.

Black Authors Named Finalists for National Book Critics Circle Awards

Included among the 30 finalists are Jesmyn Ward an assistant professor at the University of South Alabama. Hilton Als and Chimanmanda Ngozi Adichie, who have both taught at U.S. universities, are also finalists.
