Rodney Bennett Announces He Will Step Down as President of the University of Southern Mississippi
Rodney Bennett, who has served as president of the University of Southern Mississippi since 2013, announced that he will step down from his post at the end of his contract in 2023. He is the first African American to serve as president of one of the state's five predominantly White public universities.
Kevin James to Lead the College of Business and Economics at North Carolina A&T State University
Dr. James has been serving as interim dean since August 2017. He has also served as chair of the department of accounting and finance since 2010. Prior to teaching at North Carolina A&T, Dr. James served as a faculty member at Middle Tennessee State University.
Study Finds Racial Bias Directed Against Women Basketball Players at HBCUs
The study examined personal foul data from 333 Division I women’s basketball teams that played every season from 2008 to 2017, 23 of which were from HBCUs. The top five most penalized teams were HBCUs, and eight out of the top fifteen teams were HBCUs.
