At the age of 22, she earned a Ph.D. in political science at the University of Iowa. She was the first African American women to receive a Ph.D. in political science from an American university. She then taught for 33 years at Southern University in Baton Rouge.

Dr. Greggs led the Southern University marching band, called the Human Jukebox, for 36 years until his retirement in 2005. During his tenure the band played at six Super Bowls and three presidential inaugurations.

Southern University Offers New Online Degree Program in Interdisciplinary Studies
The new degree program, which will launch next month and be housed within the College of Education, is aimed at students who are working professionals or adult learners who may have college credits in a number of different disciplines but have failed to earn a degree.
