The African American Civil Rights grant program from the National Park Service has awarded grants to Auburn University, the University of Northern Colorado, Eastern Michigan University, Clemson University, and the University of South Carolina aimed at preserving sites and history relating to African Americans.
Appointed to positions as deans are Karen E. Bravo at Indiana University/Purdue University Indianapolis, Yohuru Williams at St. John's University in Queens, New York, Kojo Mensa-Wilmot at Kennesaw State University in Georgia, and SherRhonda Gibbs at the University of Northern Colorado.
The new African American administrative appointees are Maria E. Hamilton Abegunde, Travis D. Boyce, Anthony Scott, Nevada Winrow, Angel Mason, Joyce Wilkerson, and Yakima S. Rhinehart.
