Fayetteville State University Administrator to Head HBCU Organization

Emily M. Dickens, director of government and community affairs at Fayetteville State University in North Carolina, has been elected chair of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Community Development Action Coalition. The organization promotes, supports, and advocates for HBCUs and community development corporations in an effort to revitalize neighborhoods surrounding the campuses of Black colleges and universities.

Dickens is a graduate of the North Carolina Central University School of Law.

In Memoriam: William Strickland, 1937-2024

Strickland spent his lifetime dedicated to advancing civil rights and Black political representation. For four decades, he served as a professor of political science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he taught courses on Black history and the civil rights movement.
