Jabbar Bennett Assumes Additional Duties at Brown University

Jabbar R. Bennett was named associate dean for diversity in the division of biology and medicine at the Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. He also is director of the medical school’s Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs. Since 2009 he has served as assistant dean for recruiting and professional development for Brown’s Graduate School, and he will continue in that role as well as assuming his new duties.

Before coming to Brown, Dr. Bennett was director of the Office for Multicultural Faculty Careers at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston which is affiliated with Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Bennett is a graduate of North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro. He earned a Ph.D. in biomedical sciences at Meharry Medical College in Nashville.
