The New Chaplain at Xavier University of Louisiana

xavierlaEtido Jerome is the new chaplain at Xavier University, a historically Black educational institution in New Orleans that is affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church. Father Jerome had been serving as a pastoral intern at the St. Brigid Catholic Church in Los Angeles. He is the former campus minister associate intern at Howard University in Washington, D.C.

Father Jerome recently completed his licentiate in sacred theology from the Pontifical Faculty of the Immaculate Conception at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, D.C.  He also holds two bachelor’s degree and a master of divinity degree.

In Memoriam: William Strickland, 1937-2024

Strickland spent his lifetime dedicated to advancing civil rights and Black political representation. For four decades, he served as a professor of political science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he taught courses on Black history and the civil rights movement.
