Bowie State University Establishes New Partnership with Borough of Manhattan Community College

Bowie State University, the first historically Black college or university established in the state of Maryland, has announced a new partnership with the Borough of Manhattan Community College, a campus within the City University of New York system.

The two institutions have signed a memorandum of understanding that will allow BMCC students to pursue a bachelor’s degree at the HBCU. Effective immediately, eligible students who have received their associate’s degree from BMCC and completed the required coursework for admission can seamlessly transfer to Bowie State.

“This transfer agreement between BMCC and BSU creates a unique pipeline that enables students from BMCC to tap into the plethora of resources afforded to Bowie State students,” said Bowie State President Aminta Breaux. “Many of our programs align with BMCC’s which will make the transition much easier for students.”

This is not BMCC’s first partnership with an HBCU. In December, the community college established a similar transfer agreement with Clark Atlanta University in Georgia.
