Atia Garrett-Washington has been appointed executive director of recruitment, admissions, and programming at historically Black Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana. She comes to her new role from another Louisiana-based HBCU, Southern University, where she was executive director of admissions, recruitment, and dual enrollment.
Dr. Garrett-Washington is a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she majored in applied science with a focus on informatics. She holds a master’s degree in education technology leadership and a doctorate in adult learning and development from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana.
Damon Evans has been named director of athletics at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He has an extensive background leading collegiate athletics at large universities. Since 2018, he has served as the Barry P. Gossett Director of Athletics at the University of Maryland. Earlier in his career, he was the athletics director for the University of Georgia.
Evans holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and a master’s degree in sport management from the University of Georgia.
Taelore Marsh has been named archivist of the Irma Marsh McClaurin Black Feminist Archive at the University of Massachusetts Amherst Libraries. She previously served as a research assistant and processing archivist with Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.
Marsh holds a master’s degree in history from North Carolina Central University.
