Albert Mosley Named the Eighth President of Bethune-Cookman University

Albert Mosley has been selected as the eighth president of Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida. He is slated to assume his new role on July 7.

According to the most recent federal data, Bethune-Cookman enrolls over 2,400 undergraduate students, 58 percent of whom are Black. The HBCU also has a small graduate population of about 100 students.

With over 30 years of experience in higher education and nonprofit leadership, Dr. Mosley has served as president of Morningside University in Sioux City, Iowa, for the past three years. During this time, he has overseen the launch of several new degree programs and secured record-breaking funding.

Prior to Morningside, Dr. Mosley was chief mission integration officer at Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare in Memphis, Tennessee. Earlier, he served in various administrative and academic leadership roles at institutions throughout the eastern United States, including Bethune-Cookman, the Interdenominational Theological Center, Johns Hopkins University, Drexel University, Albright College, and Duke University. In his scholarly work, he studies the resilience and persistence of African American men in higher education, as well as the contributions of church-related HBCUs to the African American community and beyond.

Dr. Mosley holds degrees from Millsaps College, Duke University, and Yale University. He earned his doctorate from the University of Georgia.
