New Master’s Degree in Community and Economic Development Launches at Lincoln University of Missouri

Lincoln University of Missouri, a historically Black educational institution in Jefferson City,  has recently developed a new master of arts degree program in community and economic development (MACED).

Beginning in the fall 2025 semester, the new graduate degree aims to prepare students for leadership roles in public service, nonprofit organizations, and development initiatives. Participating students will be introduced to development theories and practices, learn to analyze data and policies to address local challenges, and develop the necessary leadership skills to promote sustainability and equity in civic engagement, entrepreneurship, and policymaking.

Geared towards working professionals, the program features accelerated 8-week courses, allowing students to earn their degrees in as little as 18 months. The curriculum consists of 27 hours of coursework, 9 hours in a chosen concentration, and a professional portfolio or capstone project.

“At Lincoln, we are committed to building stronger communities through education,” said Lincoln University President John Moseley. “The MACED program reflects our mission to prepare students for impactful roles in public service, nonprofit leadership, urban and rural development and beyond.”
