James Orr has been named the inaugural senior vice provost for undergraduate student success at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He most recently served as vice provost for strategic enrollment management at Ohio State University. Earlier, he held several key leadership roles with the University of Memphis, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Virginia Tech.
Dr. Orr holds a master’s degree in public policy and administration and a doctorate in philosophy, public policy, and administration from Mississippi State University.
Marvin E. Green, Jr. is the new major gift officer for athletics and the Marching “100” Band at Florida A&M University. He has previously served as the HBCU’s associate athletic director, director of student activities, and head coach of the men’s golf team. Since assuming his new role last month, he has already raised over $125,000 in funding to support student-athletes and marching band members.
A two-time graduate of Florida A&M University, Green holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in sports and leisure management.
Kerwin Graham has been promoted to vice president for student services at Greenville Technical College in South Carolina. His background includes over 15 years of leadership experience in student services and enrollment management. Prior to his recent appointment, he was the college’s dean of enrollment services.
An HBCU graduate, Dr. Graham earned his bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina. He holds an MBA from Shorter University in Rome, Georgia, and a doctorate in business administration from Argosy University.

Dr. Reese holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, a master’s degree in criminal justice, a Ph.D. in public policy and administration, and a second Ph.D. in industrial and organizational psychology all from Michigan State University.

Powell is an alumna of Talladega College, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology. She holds a master of social work degree from Alabama A&M University.

Dr. Hurst earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Eastern Washington University, a master’s degree in student affairs administration in higher education from Ball State University, and a Ph.D. in leadership studies from historically Black North Carolina A&T State University.

Dr. Williams-McCorvey holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology and social work from the State University of New York at New Paltz, a master of social work degree from Marywood University in Pennsylvania, and a doctorate in educational leadership from Fordham University in New York.

Dr. Berry holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in social work from Southern University at New Orleans. He earned his doctorate in philanthropy and leadership from the Union Institute and University.

Dr. Harris holds a bachelor’s degree in biology, as well as a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in molecular and cellular radiation biology all from Northern Illinois University.

Dr. Hassell holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Mount Olive in North Carolina, a master of public administration degree from Central Michigan University, and a Ph.D. in management and organizational leadership from the University of Phoenix.
