Thanks to a new partnership with the Dallas Mavericks, Paul Quinn College in Dallas, Texas, is launching a first-of-its-kind Mavs Sports Management Major. The new degree program, titled “Leadership, Innovation, Sports Management, Technology, Entrepreneurship, and Networking (LISTEN),” will introduce participating students to different aspects of the sports industry.
The LISTEN curriculum will include case studies, creative briefs, and student-led business solution presentations for real-world business scenarios. Students will also have the opportunity to receive entrepreneurship support through the Mavs Business Assist program. All students who major in the new sports management program will receive a “Mavs Care” package, including dorm essentials and other support, presented by Target.
As part of this new collaboration, the Mavericks have pledged to host a variety of events on the HBCU’s campus. Executives, partners, and sponsors affiliated with the professional basketball team will visit Paul Quinn College for speaker series and weekly guest lectures, as well as community engagement events featuring entertainment, gifts, and community celebrations. Furthermore, the Mavericks will fund a residence hall renovation to implement a Mavericks custom-designed mural, representing their commitment to student success and community pride.
