Jamal Scott Named President of Highland Community College in Illinois

Jamal Scott has been named the tenth president of Highland Community College in Illinois, effective June 15. According to the most recent U.S. Department of Education data, the college enrolls over 1,300 students, 10 percent of whom are Black.

With over 25 years of experience in higher education, Dr. Scott comes to his new role from National Louis University in Chicago, where he currently serves as vice president of undergraduate education and dean of the Undergraduate College. He also teaches as an adjunct instructor in the doctoral program in higher education at Northern Illinois University. Earlier in his career, Dr. Scott served as vice president for strategy and community development at Waubonsee Community College in Sugar Grove, Illinois, and as a campus president and senior national dean of program development for DeVry University.

Dr. Scott is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, where he majored in communication. He holds a master of public administration degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology and a doctorate in organizational leadership from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology at National Louis University.
