Alabama State University and Morris Brown College Launch New Degree Pathway Agreement

Two historically Black educational institutions, Alabama State University and Morris Brown College in Atlanta Georgia, have signed a new memorandum of understanding that establishes a clear pathway for Morris Brown students to earn a graduate degree.

Under the agreement, eligible students from Morris Brown, which primarily offers undergraduate degrees, receive a streamlined pipeline into Alabama State’s master’s degree programs in the College of Education, including degrees in a variety of fields. Morris Brown students also have the option to pursue a graduate degree in one of Alabama State’s 13 online master’s degree programs. Additionally, many of these graduate programs offer alternative certification pathways for students who did not complete an undergraduate teacher preparation program.

“This historic collaboration is a testament to the commitment of both institutions in fostering educational opportunities and supporting student success,” said Alabama State University President Quinton T. Ross, Jr. “To students of Morris Brown College, I want you to know that we are prepared to receive you, we are prepared to make room for your greatness, we are prepared to support your aspirations, and we are prepared to help you continue your path to educational and professional excellence.”

Kevin E. James, president of Morris Brown College, added, “I’m so excited to partner with Alabama State University to provide access and opportunity for our graduates to attend Alabama State for graduate studies. Just a month ago, Morris College graduated its largest class in over 25 years — 93 graduates — and we want to send them to Alabama State for grad school.”
