Kimberly Baylor Bivins, former construction science faculty member at Tuskegee University in Alabama, passed away on May 11.
Before joining the Tuskegee faculty, Bivins spent 25 years in the construction industry. In 2013, Bivins joined the HBCU as an assistant professor of construction science. She taught at Tuskegee for 10 years, during which she had a stint as interim department chair, helped to secure the construction science and management program’s accreditation, and spent one year as chair of the Faculty Senate.
In May, Tuskegee’s Construction Science and Management Industry Advisory Board for the Robert R. Taylor School of Architecture and Construction Science named Bivins as the first inductee into the board’s Hall of Fame. Bivins was an active member of the advisory board and was instrumental in securing funding for the HOAR Construction Lab, a recently opened facility featuring computer workstations and industry-standard software for construction science projects.
