Chapman University Student Utters Racist Tirade in University Classroom

A student at Chapman University in Orange, California, was arrested on several charges after he uttered a racist tirade in a university classroom, destroyed university property, and resisted arrest.

In a video that circulated on social media, the student was seen stating, “Been drinking Bacardi all day, nigger. I hate niggers.” When fellow students intervened, he stated “got any niggers in here?” He also made derogatory comments about members of the gay community on campus.

The student later stomped on a backpack containing a laptop that was damaged. He was also accused of assaulting a campus security guard.

Chapman University President Daniele C. Struppa issued a statement that said: “Racist and homophobic conduct will not be tolerated on this campus and we took decisive and swift action. As of this afternoon, the individual responsible for this incident is no longer a student at Chapman University.”

Chapman University enrolls more than 9,600 students according to the latest data supplied to the U.S. Department of Education. African Americans make up just 2 percent of the undergraduate student body.

  1. If I were a Chapman student and encountered this guy in class, I would immediately call campus police. This is clearly disruptive behavior. What I don’t understand, however, is why the student was not confronted by university officials before he went off the rails. Someone should have intervened, whether his R.A. or a student success coach. The positive side is that he will not be returning to the university.

    • In reference to Johnny Hopkins comment, my son was the only black student in that class and his video recording that was spread all over social media and the news. To clarify, there was NO teacher/professor in the class yet (apparently he was running late on the first day of class). My son and 2 other students you saw in the video were instrumental in removing him from the classroom and took the initiative to call Orange PD.
Student interviewed by media weren’t even in the classroom. The University’s solution to this horrific event was to put a podium in front of the classroom with a sign which said “THIS IS THE SPOT”
My son asked them straight up, “what was your thought process when coming up with this campaign?j
I reached out to the President of Chapman but have yet to receive a response. Its now mid June!

    • Not much to understand here. The university has a weak anti-racism policy and hasn’t invested in changing that. That’s why the student felt empowered to go off the way he did.

  2. Just execute him, and be done with it. We’re tired of these folks flying off the handle and verbally assaulting us. Time to make their punishment more permanent, to ensure that it won’t be repeated in the future.

  3. Do you see how people talk about our president and the names he is called? Why are these idiots not in jail? Don’t be so one sided. It works both ways. Blacks are just as racist as whites. Stop blm. Now that is racism. They are as bad as the kkk but they get away with it.
