The Next Chancellor of the Berks Campus of Pennsylvania State University in Reading

George Grant Jr. has been named chancellor of the Berks Campus of Pennsylvania State University in Reading. He will begin his appointment on January 4, 2021. The Penn State Berks campus enrolls about 2,900 students.

“I’m excited and honored to be the next chancellor of Penn State Berks,” said Grant. “We have talented students, faculty, and staff that I will have the privilege of serving. I’m committed to Berks as a learning-centered college and will never lose sight of that mission.”

Dr. Grant has been serving as professor and dean of the College of Community and Public Service at Grand Valley State University in Michigan. Prior to becoming dean, Dr. Grant was director of the university’s School of Social Work.

Professor Grant received a bachelor’s degree in social work from Marygrove College in Detroit. He earned a master’s degree at Grand Valley State University and a Ph.D. in sociology from Western Michigan University.
