Small Business Administration Selects Two HBCUs to Host New Women’s Business Centers

The U.S. Small Business Administration has announced the establishment of 20 new Women’s Business Centers across America to serve rural, urban, and underserved communities alike. The opening of the 20 new WBCs is the largest single expansion of Women’s Business Centers across America in its 30-year tenure. These centers will be pivotal to the success of women-owned businesses as they continue to recover from the effects of the global pandemic.

The new centers will join a national network of 136 centers that offer one-on-one counseling, training, networking, workshops, technical assistance, and mentoring to women entrepreneurs on numerous business development topics, including business startup, financial management, marketing, and procurement.

The centers will be hosted in rural and underserved markets and widen the footprint and partnership with historically Black colleges and universities.

Two of the 20 new Women’s Business Center will be on the campuses of historically Black universities: The Women’s Business Center at Jackson State University in Mississippi and the Winston-Salem State University Women’s Business Center in North Carolina.

  1. As a contracted business advisor for the SBA WBC I am truly excited about this! My entire dissertation centered around African American women-owned businesses. For my small firm to be awarded a contract to work in this community is EPIC! I am contracted in the Texas market but will be on the lookout for the 2 new HBCU WBC Teams!! Congrats!
