John McKnight Selected as the Next Dean of Haverford College in Pennsylvania

John F. McKnight Jr. has been selected as the next dean of Haverford College in Pennsylvania. As Haverford’s dean, he will oversee all aspects of student life at Haverford, including academic advising, accessibility services, athletics, diversity, equity, and inclusion and Title IX services, new student programs, registrar functions, residential life, student counseling, student conduct, student engagement, student support and outreach, and student wellness. Dr. McKnight will officially join the staff on July 1.

“Haverford College is known for having an ethos of both intellectual rigor and strong community values,” said Dr. McKnight. “This dual commitment very much aligns with my work in higher education to ensure that students are able to see every part of their college experience as contributing to their learning and personal development.”

Since 2016, Dr. McKnight has been the dean of institutional equity and inclusion at Connecticut College. Prior to joining the staff of Connecticut College, he worked at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, as dean of intercultural development. Earlier, he served as director of multicultural affairs and a coordinator of residence life at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Dr. McKnight is a graduate of the University of Florida, where he majored in advertising. He holds a master’s degree in higher education administration from Indiana University and a doctorate in administration and leadership studies from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
