Chyke A. Doubeni is the new chief health equity officer and leader of the Office of Health Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. He will hold a faculty appointment in the department of family and community medicine in the College of Medicine at Ohio State University. He was the director of the Mayo Clinic Center for Health Equity and Community Engagement Research.
Dr. Doubeni reeved his medical training at the University of Lagos in Nigeria. He holds a master of public health degree from the University of Massachusetts.
Sonel Shropshire has been appointed as the new associate vice president of the Global Institute on Equity, Inclusion, and Civil Rights at Delaware State University. He has held assistant dean positions at UCLA, Loyola Marymount University, and Texas Wesleyan University, serving at each in leadership roles for diversity recruitment and retention policies.
Shropshire is a graduate of Delaware State University. He earned a juris doctorate from the University of Florida.
Phyllis Esposito was appointed vice president and dean for institutional diversity at Reed College in Portland, Oregon. She has been serving as the vice president of diversity, equity, and inclusion at Everett Community College in Everett, Washington. Earlier, she worked as director of the Center for Multicultural Education and as the interim dean of the School of Integrative Studies at Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin.
Dr. Esposito earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in integrated humanities and education from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri. She earned a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from the University of Kansas.
Mark Black was appointed chief diversity officer and manager of the Title IX program at the University of Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio. Black most recently served as executive director of secondary schools for Akron Public Schools.
Black is a 1998 graduate of the University of Mount Union, where he majored in elementary education. He holds a master’s degree in education from the University of Akron.
Sheila Lloyd was named senior vice president for justice, equity, and antiracism at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts. She will also serve as a professor of Black literary and cultural studies. She has been serving as associate vice president for academic affairs at the University of Houston Downtown. Earlier, Dr. Lloyd was associate provost for teaching, learning, and faculty affairs, the founding director of the Center for Faculty Excellence, and accreditation liaison officer at Mills College in Oakland, California.
Dr. Lloyd is a graduate of Yale University, where she majored in English literature. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in English literature from Cornell University.
