A Quartet of Black Scholars Who Have Been Appointed to Diversity Positions

Jonathan Glenn is the new director of diversity and inclusion at Alma College in Michigan. He was the associate athletic director for student-athlete leadership and development at Central Michigan University. He has been on the staff there for 12 years.

A native of Saginaw, Michigan, Glenn earned a bachelor’s degree in theology from Life Christian University in Lutz, Florida, and a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree from Central Michigan University.

Joyce Sackey has been named the inaugural chief diversity and inclusion officer and associate dean at the Stanford University School of Medicine. Since 2018, she has served as associate provost and chief diversity officer at the Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston.

A native of Accra, Ghana, Dr. Sackey holds a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College and a medical degree from the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth.

Algerian Hart was named interim chief diversity officer and assistant to the president at Missouri State University in Springfield. Dr. Hart previously worked at Western Illinois University, the University of Nevada Las Vegas, and Seattle Pacific University.

Dr. Hart is a graduate of California State University, Long Beach, where he majored in sociology. He earned a master’s degree in recreation and leisure studies and a Ph.D. in educational leadership and administration from Washington State University.

Stephanie Potts was promoted to chief diversity officer at Danville Area Community College in Illinois. She has been on the staff at the college for the past 12 years, most recently serving as the director of the college’s counseling and advisement department.

Potts is a graduate of Danville Area Community College. She earned a master’s degree in counseling from Eastern Illinois University.
