The Board of Trustees and the President of the Maine Community College System (MCCS) invite applications and nominations for the position of president of Northern Maine Community College (NMCC) located in Aroostook County in Presque Isle, Maine. NMCC is committed to maintaining its tradition of providing high-quality career and transfer programs that lead to associate degrees, certificates, and specialized training necessary for an educated, skilled, and adaptable workforce. Through a combination of programs of study, courses, and specialized-training seminars, the College is a catalyst for economic growth and the development of human potential. NMCC offers in-person, offsite, and online courses, more than 30 academic degree and certificate-level programs, and both credit and noncredit offerings. NMCC has an enrollment of approximately 1,000 students and provides a vibrant residence life program. NMCC is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education.
As a priority, NMCC is seeking a student-centered president who is visible, engaged, and committed to the faculty, staff, and community at large. In addition, the president needs to have the ability and vision to continue the College’s commitment to enhancing student success in delivering high-quality education and training to include experience in creating critical partnerships between two- and four-year colleges and industry. NMCC also seeks a president who can lead the College during a period of changing student demographics. The president has the responsibility of institutional leadership, long-term planning, fundraising, and fostering an environment that is conducive to learning. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to inclusivity and belonging within the community.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate a deep understanding in experiential based education and training, strategic planning, and communication, as well as success in team building and participatory management. Candidates are also expected to understand the role of the College in economic development and be willing to play a leadership role in promoting opportunities in the region. In addition to a combination of administrative, teaching, or management experience, a proven leadership record to include fiscal and facilities management, is desired. Candidates must possess a master’s degree; candidates with a doctoral degree are preferred.
