Three African Americans Taking on New Administrative Roles in Higher Education

B_ThompsonBrenda Thompson was elected to the board of trustees of the University of Georgia Foundation. Thompson has been serving on the board of directors of the Georgia Museum of Art. She and her husband recently donated 100 works of African American art to the museum which is on the University of Georgia campus.

Dr. Thompson has been a member of psychology department faculty at Morehouse College in Atlanta. She holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Saint Louis University.

covington_sim72Sim Covington Jr. was named director of career services at the State University of New York Institute of Technology in Utica. He was assistant director of the Center for Careers and Employment at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, New York. He also was an adjunct professor in the college’s School of Business.

Covington holds a bachelor’s degree and two master’s degrees from the University at Albany, a campus of the State University of New York system.

lynetteLynette Ralph was appointed director of the University Library Resource Center on the campus of Xavier University in New Orleans. She was the assistant university library director at the Sims Memorial Library at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond.

Dr. Ralph holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in library and information science.
