Eugene White to Lead Martin University in Indianapolis

Dr_-Eugene-WhiteEugene White, former superintendent of the Indianapolis public school system, was named interim president of Martin University in Indianapolis. He will serve in the post for one year while the university searches for a permanent president. Dr. White had led the Indianapolis school system for seven years prior to his retirement in April.

According to the latest Department of Education data, Martin University enrolls about 700 students. About two thirds of the students are women and 94 percent of the student body is Black.

Dr. White is a graduate of Alabama A&M University, where he played varsity basketball. He holds a master’s degree from the University of Tennessee and a doctorate from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.
