Adam J. Banks, professor in the department of writing, rhetoric, and digital studies in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Kentucky, was named the 2014 Rhetorician of the Year by the The Young Rhetoricians’ Conference. Professor Banks was honored for his work as an influential leader in English studies including his blog The Talking Book, which explores issues of social media and race in America.
Before joining the faculty at the University of Kentucky, Dr. Banks served on the faculty at Syracuse University in New York. He is the author of Race, Rhetoric, and Technology: Searching for Higher Ground (Routledge, 2005).
Dr. Banks is a graduate of Cleveland State University in Ohio. He earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in English from Pennsylvania State University.
