Frank Pogue to Lead Cheyney University of Pennsylvania

pogueFrank G. Pogue was named interim president of Cheyney University of Pennsylvania. From 2010 to June of this year, Dr. Pogue was president of Grambling State University in Louisiana. Earlier in his career, he served for 11 years as president of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Pogue will begin his new duties on November 3.

Guido M. Pichini, chair of the Board of Governors of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, issued a statement that read in part: “We were extremely fortunate to find an interim president for Cheyney University who has more than 50 years of distinguished service in higher education, including nearly two decades as the president or interim president of four different institutions. Dr. Pogue knows the State System from the 11 years he served as president of Edinboro University. He understands the unique challenges facing historically Black colleges and universities from his recent leadership of Grambling State University. He will provide a strong, steady hand to lead Cheyney during this period of transition and has both the experience and the vision to move the university forward.”

Dr. Pogue earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Alabama State University, a master’s degree in sociology from Atlanta University and a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.

In Memoriam: Nathan Howard Cook, 1939-2024

Dr. Cook was a longtime faculty member and administrator at Lincoln University of Missouri. A full professor of biology, he held several leadership roles including vice president for academic affairs.
