Two African Americans Appointed to Key Posts at the University of Wisconsin

Two African Americans have been appointed to important staff positions at the University of Wisconsin.

Eric G. Williams was named assistant vice provost for student diversity and academic excellence. He was the director of the Multicultural Academic Opportunities Program at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg.

A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, Dr. Williams holds a master’s degree from Kent State University in Ohio and a doctorate in educational leadership from Virginia Tech.

Carl B. Hampton was appointed special assistant to the vice provost for diversity and climate and chief diversity officer. He has served an aide to former Wisconsin governor Jim Doyle and to former Dane County executive Kathleen Falk.

Hampton is a graduate of Stanford University and the University of Wisconsin Law School.
