Six Black Administrators Appointed to New Posts in Higher Education

20120216_LindaStrongLeek_AG(006)Linda Strong-Leek is the new vice president for diversity and inclusion at Berea College in Kentucky. She will continue to perform the duties of associate vice president for academic affairs, a post she was appointed to in 2012. Prior to the joining the faculty at Berea College, Dr. Strong-Leek taught at Florida International University in Miami. She is the author of Excising the Spirit: A Literary Analysis of Female Circumcision (Africa World Press, 2009).

Dr. Stong-Leek holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from North Carolina Central University in Durham. She earned a Ph.D. at Michigan State University.

White-FredFrederick White was named director of institutional aid/Title III programs at Jackson State University in Mississippi. He has been serving as interim director and previously was assistant director for two years.

Dr. White holds a master’s degree in public policy and administration and a doctorate in community college leadership from Mississippi State University.

Dr. Ontario WoodenOntario Wooden was promoted to associate vice chancellor for innovative, engaged and global education at North Carolina Central University in Durham. He has been serving as dean of the University College at NCCU. Dr. Wooden joined the staff at the university in 2008.

Dr. Wooden is a graduate of Albany State University in Georgia. He earned a master’s degree and a doctorate in higher education from Indiana University in Bloomington.

guillory-winfieldMonique Guillory-Winfield was named vice president for academic affairs at the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morristown, New Jersey. She has been serving as vice president for academic and student affairs for the Southern University system. Dr. Guillory-Winfield is the co-editor of Soul: Black Power, Politics and Pleasure (New York University Press, 1998).

Dr. Guillory-Winfield holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from New York University.

fraterJoel Frater was named executive dean for the Damon City campus of Monroe Community College in New York. The new campus is expected to open in the fall of 2017. Dr. Frater has been serving as an associate professor in the department of recreation and leisure studies at the College at Brockport of the State University of New York System. He served as assistant to the provost for diversity in academic affairs. He has been on the faculty at the college since 1995.

Dr. Frater is a native of Jamaica. He earned a bachelor’s degree in recreation management at Cheyney University of Pennsylvania and an educational doctorate at Temple University in Philadelphia.

Michael Kelly & Fatimah Stone - Title IXFatimah R. Stone was appointed senior associate director of the Office of Equity and Inclusion at the University of Delaware. She had served as a human resources consultant at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana.

Stone is a graduate of Fairleigh-Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey and the Tulane Law School in New Orleans.
