Eddie N. Moore Jr. Named President of Norfolk State University in Virginia

eddie_moore-thumbThe board of visitors of Norfolk State University in Virginia named Eddie N. Moore Jr. as president of the educational institution. He has been serving as interim president since September 2013.

Norfolk State was recently removed from accreditation probation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the board gave credit to President Moore. Rector Thomas N. Chewing stated that “President Moore set the tone for improvement and change as interim president. He guided us through our accreditation challenges and helped us emerge a stronger institution.”

Moore served as president of St. Paul’s College from November 2011 until it closed in June 2012. From 1993 to 2010, he was president of Virginia State University. Earlier in his career, Moore was treasurer of the Commonwealth of Virginia and controller at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg.

Moore is a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he earned the Bronze Star. He is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University, where he majored in accounting. He earned an MBA at the University of Pittsburgh.
