New Assignments for Two Black Faculty Members

Elizabeth Stordeur Pryor was promoted to associate professor of history and granted tenure at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. Before teaching at Smith, she was a University of California President’s Postdoctoral Fellow at the UCLA School of Law. She is the author of Colored Travelers: Mobility and the Fight for Citizenship Before the Civil War (University of North Carolina Press, 2016).

Dr. Pryor is a graduate of Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. She holds a master’s degree from Cornell University and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Oladiran Fasina was named chair of the department of biosystems engineering at Auburn University in Alabama. Dr. Fasina is a professor in the department and has served as interim associate dean for research and interim assistant director of the Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station.

Dr. Fasina joined the faculty at Auburn University in 2002. He was promoted to full professor in 2012. Dr. Fasina holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria. He earned a Ph.D. in agricultural and bioresource engineering from the University of Saskatchewan in Canada.
