Indiana University Names New Leaders for Two Performing Ensembles

The African American Arts Institute at Indiana University in Bloomington has hired new directors to lead two of the institute’s performing ensembles.

Stafford C. Berry Jr. was named the director of the African American Dance Company. He was an assistant professor of dance and Black studies at Denison University in Granville, Ohio. He served for 12 years as the associate artistic director of the African American Dance Ensemble. Berry is a graduate of North Carolina Central University in Durham and earned a master of fine arts degree in choreography from Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia.

James A. Strong Jr. will be the new leader of the Indiana University Soul Revue. He was a member of the Soul Revue while a student at Indiana University. Strong earned a degree in business at Indiana University East in Richmond. He is a renowned bassist and music producer.
