Emory University Video Series Highlights Lesser Known Events in Civil Rights History

Emory University is offering a series of videos entitled “The Hidden History of the Quest for Civil Rights.” The series highlights some lesser known aspects of the civil rights struggle.

Here is one video where Carol E. Anderson, associate professor of African American studies at Emory University discusses a 1946 race riot that occurred in Columbia, Tennessee, after a dispute erupted when a Black women sought to have her radio repaired. Dr. Anderson holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Miami University. She earned her Ph.D. in history from Ohio State University.
