Seven HBCUs Receive Funding to Enhance Their Technology Infrastructure

These grants from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, totaling more than $33.5 million, were awarded to 12 minority-serving colleges and universities in 10 states. Seven of the recipients are historically Black colleges and universities.

Mellon Foundation Announces Support for University Research on Social Justice

The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation invited proposals from institutions exploring three distinct topical categories — Civic Engagement and Voting Rights, Race and Racialization in the United States, and Social Justice and the Literary Imagination. Twenty-six grants totaling $12 million have been awarded.

Eleven Colleges and Universities Receive Grants Relating to Blacks From the National Archives

Recently the National Archives announced 47 grants totaling $6,510,701 for projects in 27 states and the District of Columbia to improve public access to historical records. Many of these grants relate to African Americans.

Four HBCUs Targeted by Bomb Threats Receive Funds for Mental Health Services

The funds are part of the Project School Emergency Response to Violence program. Project SERV funds short-term education-related services for local educational agencies and institutions of higher education to help them recover from a violent or traumatic event in which the learning environment has been disrupted.

The U.S. Department of Energy has announced $37 million in funding for 52 projects at 44 institutions that historically have been unrepresented in grant programs of the department. Of the 44 institutions receiving grants, only six are historically Black colleges and universities.
