SUMMARY:
The Continuing Medical Education (CME) Project Manager provides management, accreditation adherence and successful implementation of CME/CE certified activities at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. The Project Manager will independently manage all aspects of assigned activities including assessing educational needs, identifying appropriate educational design, budget creation, source potential funding, create marketing, post activity data collection and analysis, and related activity needs.
This high-profile role aims to enhance the Office of Continuing Medical Education’s mission, increase its visibility, and expand the CME offerings. The CME Project Manager will make decisions and use judgement based on adult learning educational design principles and ACCME knowledge and experience. This individual will lead and implement continuing medical education projects assigned independently in addition to collaborating as needed with the CME Director, Assistant Director, CME Coordinator, Course Leaders/Planners, Faculty, and educational partners to produce educational activities compliant within the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) Criteria and Standards, the American Medical Association (AMA) CME credit guidelines, other health professions’ continuing education accreditation requirements, and Brown CME policies. The individual will liaise with other offices and programs to support the professional development of healthcare professionals at Brown and beyond.
The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education to physicians. The CME Office (OCME) supports the professional development of healthcare professionals by providing quality educational opportunities that contribute to improvements in patient care. The OCME sponsors more than two hundred CME/CE activities annually in a wide range of clinical disciplines and formats. The total annual attendance is approximately 15,000 and includes multi-disciplinary healthcare professionals who practice in Rhode Island as well as throughout the U.S. and worldwide.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor Degree required plus a minimum of 2+ years of related experience with managing high volume of workflow and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in meeting and event planning principles, requirements, procedures, resources preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working both independently and as part of a team.
Job Competencies
- Familiarity with CME/CE accreditation requirements preferred
- Strong project management skills and detail oriented
- Exceptional organization and time management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with overlapping and competing priorities.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team
- High level of professionalism a must
- Strong interpersonal communications skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Experience managing budgets and finances
- Experience negotiating contracts with hotels preferred
- Meeting management or event planning experience preferred
- Confidence managing virtual event platforms and working across multiple platforms, systems, and processes
- Excellent computer skills and comfortable with technology such as MS Word, MS Excel, Qualtrics, Google Suite, conference event tools, and other web-based tools
- Experience or willingness to learn Workday and EthosCE, the learning management system software used by the CME Office to manage and track all activities/events and attendance.
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed and available for occasional weekend and/or extended hours.
- Must be flexible and willing to learn office policies and processes.
- Possesses a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community.
