Job Description:

Each year, approximately 2,000 Brown undergraduates apply for funding to support experiential learning opportunities through Brown’s Summer/Semester Projects for Research, Internship and Teaching (SPRINT) Program. The Student Exploration Manager will provide critical operational support for the SPRINT program, including process and system management, student applicant and awardee communications, and program assessment. The Manager will also coordinate key activities of Center’s new campus career exploration initiative through process coordination with University Human Resources, resource development and dissemination, and program assessment. This initiative is designed to make campus employment experiences function more like internship experiences that enable students to explore career options and develop important professional skills, and will support students seeking campus employment experiences, as well as campus-based hiring managers who want to recruit, train, and manage student workers.

Student Exploration Team

The Student Exploration team will help students access year-round experiential learning and professional development opportunities both on and away from campus. The team will advise students on the process of securing campus employment opportunities while also helping students understand how these opportunities can enhance their skill development and allow them to explore career possibilities.

Center for Career Exploration Overview

Brown’s Center for Career Exploration works in collaboration with departments across campus to connect students with Brown’s rich array of career resources. Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Competencies

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously while consistently meeting deadlines.
  • High degree of responsiveness and timeliness in managing communications with students, faculty, staff colleagues, employers, and other stakeholders.
  • Proficiency managing email communications, word processing and spreadsheet applications, and mail merges.
  • Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment. Demonstrated ability to prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion in executing job responsibilities.
  • Collaborative work style; strong team player; open-mindedness, inclusiveness and flexibility; ability to work and build collaborations with diverse communities.
  • Comfort learning and managing custom University technology platforms and extracting data for tracking and reporting purposes, and using data and assessment tools to measure program effectiveness.
  • Willingness to take on challenges and display a growth mindset even if a candidate does not yet meet every qualification on this list.

Additional Information

Occasional evening and weekend work required for critical Center, College, and University events.
